How to Fix XBox 360 Game Consoles

If the Xbox 360 game console begins blinking red lights and you no longer can play your games it has become necessary for you to find out why and how to fix. The Xbox 360 gives you signals that will help you determine the problem that the console is in trouble. The blinking lights each have a code that determines the problem that you may fix according to the error. When section 4 flashing red light appears, that is a signal that there is hardware failure and the specific type of hardware failure is determined by the error code displayed on the screen.

The first error code concerning your Xbox 360 console game unit that we are going to look at is the E64, which is a drive error. This code is detecting a problem with your DVD or game that possibly there is the wrong firmware inserted. When the wrong firmware is inserted that means the DVD is without a f/w chip. This of course alerts the 360 Xbox game consoles giving you the warning of an error.

The next error code concerning game play is E65, which is similar to the E64 error code. This code means that the wrong firmware is being used or the DVD is without the f/w chip or possibly the tray just may not be fully closed on boot. It is suggested that you check out the tray and do a reboot.

The error code E66 is a DVD Drive Error and the remedy starts by checking out the DVD system. If the dashboard or the firmware version on the drive does not match this means the drive is older than the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Make sure that the DVD drive is the same version included with the console and that it is using the original firmware either included with the console or newer.

The Xbox 360 game console has a fail-safe system that lets you know approximately what the error is and by checking out the error code it allows you some options to fix the problems. You need to try some simple things first in order to determine the cause of the problem. Sometimes the problem is so simple that it only takes a few minutes to discover it and fix it.

Start by disconnecting the AV cable and clean the metal on the back of the unit. Then make sure that when you reconnect the AV cable that is firmly connected to the back of the unit. You will find that it might be a little short of the goal but all you need do is firmly attach the cable to the back of the Xbox 360. The next thing is to turn your unit on again which many times you may find that this has fixed the console.

The next major problem is one of overheating in which case you should immediately turn the unit off for several hours before you make any attempts to try to discover the problem.  Remember, do not put the unit in bookcases, stereo shelves, or any tight places that prevents proper ventilation.  After carefully checking the ventilating and the fans turn the unit back on and try to play. The problem may stem from the fact you simply need a better spot to set the console.
