to Repair a XBox
360 with Red Lights

Remember, never put
your XBox 360 near any heat source such as a radiator, a heat register, a
stove, or an amplifier. Following these simple rules can often save you
from any major repairs due to overheating for your XBox 360.
Repairs do become
necessary at times and it is always good to know the signs that indicate
your XBox 360 is in need of repairs.
One of the symptoms is when all four lights on the Ring of Light (ROL)
flash red on the front of your XBox 360 indicating that there is a
problem.
This is an issue that
occurs for the following reason: the audio-visual (AV) cable is not
connected correctly or plugged into the XBox 360 console and the console
is not detecting the cable. This issue will occur if the AV cable is
plugged incorrectly into a television, a stereo, or a VCR. One important
thing to remember is that this issue only occurs only on XBox 360 consoles
that do not have a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) AV port.
Now, there are things
that you can try that will fix the problem and you can continue playing in
a matter of minutes. You
should make sure that the AV cable is connected correctly to the Xbox 360
console. When you are
connecting the audio-visual cable into the Xbox 360, the cable should
slightly meet with resistance before insertion. You must make sure that it
is fully inserted or all four lights will flash on the Ring of Light, or
no video may be displayed on the screen. The way you know that you are
fully connected is that the cable is fully inserted when the largest part
of the connector is almost touching the case of the console.
You should always check
to make sure that the AV cable is clean. If the four red lights continue
to flash, take the cables off the back and wipe the metal part of the
console. Then if that does not work, try using a new cable, and if so, the
problem is obviously in the cable itself.
